Daphne - the story behind the design

Some stories stay with you. Daphne’s is one of mine.

In myth, Daphne is the embodiment of movement — a woman who becomes a laurel tree rather than lose her freedom. Her transformation is wild, beautiful, and powerful. It’s a moment suspended between fear and strength, between motion and becoming. That tension is what inspired the Daphne design.

I’ve always been drawn to stories of women who endure, who shift, who rise. As a Latin teacher, I spent years reading these myths aloud, watching students discover the same spark I felt. Later, as a jewelry designer, I realized those stories were still shaping me — quietly guiding my hands as I worked.

The Daphne piece grew from that intersection of worlds.

I wanted her to feel alive with movement: arms lifted, hair caught in the wind, branches curling gently around her form. Not fully transformed, not yet rooted — but in that breathtaking moment where strength and surrender meet. Her silhouette is feminine and wild, her branches delicate, her leaves touched with soft gold to echo the divine light of her myth.

She represents transformation, resilience, and the beauty of becoming.

For me, she also represents the way stories follow us — from the classroom to the studio, from ancient text to modern craft. Daphne is a reminder that movement is sacred, strength can be elegant, and every piece of jewelry can carry a story.

This design is my tribute to Daphne and every girl or woman who has struggled through tragedy, darkness, or difficult times just to transform into a more refined, powerful, and beautiful version of herself.
